FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers about what Sumova does — and what it doesn't.

Is Sumova free?

Yes. Sumova is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases — every feature in the app is available to everyone.

Does Sumova have ads?

No. There are no ads and no trackers in Sumova — nothing in the app is paid for with your attention or your data.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email address to give. Install the app, pick your language and currency, and start adding transactions.

Where is my data stored? Is it private?

All of your financial data is stored only on your phone. Sumova has no servers and no user accounts, so nobody — including us — can see it. The only thing the app sends on its own is an anonymized crash report when something breaks, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Does Sumova work offline?

Yes. Everything works without an internet connection, because nothing depends on a server.

Can Sumova connect to my bank account?

No, and that is deliberate. You add transactions yourself, which takes a few seconds each. Your bank login is never shared with an app, and your data never passes through a third party.

Does Sumova sync between devices?

Not at the moment. Your data lives on one device. To move to a new phone, export a backup file and restore it there.

How do I back up my data or move to a new phone?

In Settings, open Backup & restore and export a backup file. You can protect it with a password, which encrypts it. Keep the file wherever you like — cloud storage, email or a computer — and restore it on your new phone. The app also reminds you when many transactions haven't been backed up yet.

Can I lock the app with a PIN or Face ID?

Yes. You can turn on a PIN and, if your phone supports it, unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint. The lock is optional.

Which currencies and languages does Sumova support?

You can choose from more than 125 currencies, and the app is available in 18 languages. Sumova shows all amounts in the one currency you choose — it doesn't keep several currencies at once or convert between them.

Can I track debts and transfers between accounts?

Yes. You can keep several accounts, such as cash, a card and savings, and move money between them with transfers. The debts ledger records who owes you and what you owe, including partial repayments.

Can Sumova remind me to log my expenses?

Yes. If you don't open Sumova for a few days, an optional reminder at a time you choose asks whether you forgot to add what you spent. It won't nag you every day.

Can I export my data to CSV or Excel?

Not at the moment. The backup file contains all of your data, but it is meant for restoring into Sumova, not for spreadsheets.

Is there a web or desktop version?

No. Sumova is a mobile app for iPhone and Android phones.

Ready to give it a try?

Free, no account, no ads. Install Sumova and log your first expense in seconds.
